- Client owned a commercial building that was vandalized. The clients insurance company refused to pay, alleging, without proof, that the client was somehow involved in the destruction. Suit was filed in federal court. The attorney for the insurance company repeatedly claimed they would never pay any money. After jury selection, the case was settled for over $500,000.
- Our client leased a warehouse, where the roof leaked and damaged garments. The lease protected the landlord. When the landlord refused to pay any compensation, it was sued in the New Jersey Superior Court-Chancery Division. The case was tried in two phrases lasting two weeks. Our client received a substantial recovery, which withstood appeals to the Appellate Division and New Jersey Supreme Court.
- Client was sued in federal court by a major insurance company for fraud and racketeering. The damages sought were in excess of $6 million. We provided over 5,000 pages in discovery and there were 30 days of depositions. On the eve of the trial our clients were able to settle for less than it would have cost to try the case — a small fraction of the claimed damages.
